In my last Media Literacy class, I always show this movie to my students as a perfect example of how media content works and affects us at different dimensions. I must have seen this 13-minute movie at least a dozen times, but it still hits me hard every time I watch it. It's just such a simple and powerful human story. Here's my personal analysis:

"How Are Your Roaches?"
In the Soviet Union, people had limited ways to get rid of roaches in their homes. The most common insecticide, Dichlophos (a Russian version of the Dichlorvos), was scarce, diluted, toxic for humans and ineffective. Fighting roaches was a never-ending losing battle. Ask me about other people I know, and I will be able to give you the list of ten things I like about them and perhaps at least twenty things I don’t like about them, in no time. However, when it comes to myself, it is a strenuous mental exercise. Nevertheless, I will give it a try before our big day, just to show my partner how strongly committed I am.
