crying, . . .
fearing for my life, . .
hearing my dad threatening to kill us, . . .
being afraid as a kid, never calling the police, . . .
month after month, . . . . and year after year, nothing. . .
changing, one day, my awakening, hearing my father,
calling my mother such abhorrent names, so . . .
trying to calm him down, asking him, . . .
doing what I never did before, . . .
saying simply two words, repeating, . . .
again and again, simply saying, "not today"
looking directly, deeply, eye to eye, smiling. . . .
mind to mind combat, relaxing, calmly, . .
preparing to permanently end him, . . .
