He Was Right

Verse 1
He was an angry young man aiming fury at a typewriter
Pouring everything his heart felt onto the keys
Becoming the voice of a restless generation
He spoke truths no one wanted to believe
His words were like bullets shooting through their false comfort
And the ink in his pen was poison to the lies they’d long believed
He was defiant in a world that feared men that are honest
And he refused to let his truth be pushed aside
Chorus
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it
He was right, He was right and they tried to shut him down
He was right, He was right and the truth he kept on fighting
Still lives in every line he carved into the page
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it.
No, no, no, the world couldn’t take it
Verse 2
He was painted at home as a difficult child because they couldn’t bear his truth
His family never welcomed or accepted how his vision exposed their wrongs
He spoke in ways that threatened all the habits they depended on
Not from calm, but from the anger of a man unheard for far too long
He wrote because his fury was the only thing that moved them
And the world around him tightened when he spoke
His conviction didn’t soothe the ones who claimed they loved him
It scared them because the status quo was broken
Chorus
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it
He was right, He was right and they tried to shut him down
He was right, He was right and the truth he kept on fighting
Still lives in every line he carved into the page
He was right, He was right and the world couldn’t take it.
No, no, no, the world couldn’t take it
Bridge
His words outlived the ones who tried to stop him
His truth outlasted every hand that pushed him down
What he wrote became the ground beneath the broken
The fire he ignited rose in others as they learned to stand their ground
