Undesirable to Undeniable
Cody: At any point in your life or at any point in your career is there anytime you felt undesirable? I'm gonna be honest. Since I was born I was desired by everyone, my family, my friends, basically tearing me apart to all get a piece of me haha. Then came a day that it stopped. I fell off the mountain I was born. There wasn’t anyone to pick me up out of it. More than that instead of climbing out I wanted to simmer in it or let someone else rescue me. The friends stopped checking up on me, stopped hanging out with me. My fifty something turned to three, three which I still keep in contact with today. I...I don't know what really happened, I was born on a mountain top and everyone cheered me as a champion. But once I fell...they kept climbing without me, not even looking down to check on me.

Balance
Supposedly 66% of Americans do not believe they have a good work life balance and frankly businesses aren't helping, unlike France who encourages employees to disconnect digitally from work and gives 25 mandatory vacation days a year. Most working class americans are working long hours, weekends, and holidays, not too mention making minimum wage.

Carrot or Stick?
One of the great debates particularly when my kids were young, was whether you could or should use a carrot or a stick to encourage them to “do better”. I was always in the carrot camp, but my wife was always in the perfectionist (stick) camp. She felt that it was better to “say it as it is”, although there was always a discussion about what standard that had to meet and what “perfection” might be.

The Pressure to Develop Your Potential
It takes an amazing amount of pressure to make a diamond. The reason why we're going through something so hard is the outcome. Most of us want to get better. The journey that makes you the strongest is the path that is the hardest. It's not that surprising when you hear of overnight millionaires. I'm not sure why it is that sometimes we look down upon those in positions of power or success. Everybody has obstacles they need to overcome. The only difference is some people do not act responsible for their own outcomes. Now if we're talking young, fresh out of high school, there is still so much time left for them to develop. Try to take on the hardest tasks and be the best you can, this is the only way to get to a level where others admire you. There is nothing great about being small and simple.

You've Got Time
Something most, if not all of us youngsters, rarely seem to hear is how we still have time to achieve our goals in later stages of our lives. And it seems strange, but it almost feels as if everybody is in a hurry to make it to the top these days. I guess I should know, because like the majority, I shamefully feel the same way.
