My 40 Year Journey to Queer
When I was 9, I experienced my first kiss with a girl from my class. She was my best friend, and we practiced kissing each other when I spent the night at her apartment. At the same time, I learned in church that a human’s default sexual setting was straight. Anything else was gay, which also meant evil. I didn’t understand that at the time, but I absorbed it.

NOW, WHAT?
I was so in love with my best friend named Lucy. She was an extremely beautiful kind-hearted girl. Every time I had a terrible day or just not in the mood, she would come up with a plan just to see me happy. Basically, it was a challenge for her. So, she would always wanted to win. She wanted to see if she can make me laugh or smile again. the thing she did is Lucy came up to me and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

From a young age, we are exposed to heterosexual relationships, binary gender roles and we grow up expecting to be attracted to people that have been assigned the opposite gender to us.

Transgender Day of Remembrance
Today is a day of remembrance of transgender people who have lost their lives. Every year on November 20, Transgender Day of Remembrance is held for that purpose and also, it's because these crimes are not reported and often misgendered by the media. This day was first held on November 20, 1998, following the murder of Rita Hester, a black trans woman. Nearly two dozen transpeople have been murdered so far in 2019 and it's important that they deserve to be protected and free from discrimination. Unfortunately, there aren't many states that have protections for transgender people, which can pose a risk of them being murdered or taking their own lives. Here are some more shocking and disturbing stats about the killings of transgender people worldwide:
