An Interview with a 107 Year-Old Cowboy Vampire Detective
It was the middle of June, in 2006, and Hank Jasper almost didn't hear the Little Rock Police chief call his name. He obviously did, but for the first time in a while he had to actually turn his head to look at Jennifer Cole, the forty-three year old woman with blonde hair that she always had in a braid; the one that always hung over her left shoulder.

The Lake House Trip
Dean got out of his uber carrying his bag up to the lake house. It had been a very difficult year, what with the pandemic and all, and he was looking forward to getting away from his small apartment for a few days to stay at the company lake house. The lake house itself was a small reward offered to the salesperson of the month to go and visit for a week and enjoy the wonderful isolation in the mountains. He had worked hard through the year, mostly from boredom that came from working from home and getting out only when one absolutely had to. That said he was looking forward to spending his isolation in a much more open and robust place and the mountain air already was calming his senses. He went and typed in the code he had been given to enter the house and let himself in.

Myst Vantar
I have lived by a lake all my life. It's called Myst vatnar which means Myst lake in the Norse language. Apparently myst was a term for mystical or mystic long ago. At least that's what my father always told me. This lake was crystal clear all year long and even though we traveled occasionally and saw other lakes I never saw a lake so beautiful. Which is why every summer people from all over the world would come to vacation at it. You could swim, fish, and enjoy tanning on the lake or by it. But there was one rule that no matter what that seemed to always get broken. There were never to be more than five people in the lake at the same time.

Thorn Manor
Isla has had one hell of a morning. She walks into her apartment after being “let go” from her job as a recreation assistant at the assisted-living home she has worked at for the last three years. The reason she has been fired is for going on vacation for two weeks and sudden complaints have come up. Things like “walking around aimlessly, and not putting equipment away” were mentioned. The funny thing is Isla’s “walking around aimlessly” was going to interview new seniors as her supervisor had told her to. The “equipment not being put away” started when they hired this new assistant. She left all of her things out and never cleaned them up, leaving Isla to do it. Because of that she didn’t have time to put away any of her own equipment. She asked for help from both her supervisor and the other assistant but never got it. Funny right?
