Growing up, I went through an “awkward makeup” stage. I knew how to apply makeup from watching my mother when I was a child, but when it came to actually buying my own I didn’t have a clue. I started wearing makeup regularly in high school, and I was a big fan of the alternative scene. At first my mother didn’t approve of dark or heavy makeup, so I had a blue eyeliner pencil I bought at a dollar store, a tube of mascara I got from her, and a tube of concealer I bought myself at the store. Thankfully after becoming interested in YouTube makeup tutorials, I began to figure out more on what I needed to complete a look for the day. Now that I’ve been a makeup wearer for at least a decade, I think it’s time I share what I’ve learned from my trials and errors at the beauty counter and share what should be in your first makeup bag.

I know the struggle all too well. The bridge of my nose would be flaky at the same time pimples would be cropping up on my forehead from my forehead being too oily. Around I went in the vicious skincare cycle, adding astringents and drying agents to my face to get rid of the pimples and then adding oils to my face for the dry spots. It's a never-ending battle for people who have both skin types.

Relaxed Hair Every Six Months Instead of 6-8 Weeks
I began relaxing my hair about 10 or 11 years ago. Getting a relaxer in my hair was totally an accident. One day I had went to get my hair done and the hair assistant put the wrong product in my hair, surprisingly enough my hair didn't fall out thankfully and did I forget to mention I already had a hair softener in my hair. So, I haven't seen my natural hair in a very long time. For those who don’t know the difference in chemicals the softener softens and loosen tough natural hair while a relaxer completely straightens the hair.
