Dear Young adults, please give older folk a break
I will be 63 on my next birthday and unfortunately am turning into my grandmother. She would be attempting to say one thing and something absolutely different would come out of her mouth. She would call my brothers and me by the names of our cousins and become so frustrated she would smack her hand against her leg and say "Oh sh*t. I am now dealing with the same. I was at Burger King this morning and my grandsons asked for Hash browns. My granddaughter told me she wanted French toast sticks but when I was placing the order I said "A five piece" and French toast sticks would not come to mind. Thankfully the person taking my order knew what I wanted and finished my sentence for me.

Philippe Wynne's tragic life and death
So often we enjoy the music of individuals and groups but have no idea of the pain they may have endured. Television shows such as CENSORED, BEHIND THE MUSIC,and UNSUNG have told some pretty horrific stories about those who entertain us. You can also find out about the lives of popular musicians and singers by searching the Internet. I was recently listening to Knee Deep by Parliament/Funkadelic where Philippe Wynne had a lead part. I recalled that he had died young from a heart attack and decided to research his story. I had no idea of the harsh life he lived and the tragedies that befell his family.

Cats are proven to help humans deal with grief
After my husband died I reluctantly purchase a cat from a local shelter. I recalled how being given a puppy helped me move forward after the death of my great grandmother. At that time I was only 17 and had slept in the same bed with great grandma. Even so there were teenage things to think about like boys and dates so I moved along quickly without much thought. This time my husband , whom I had been with for 45 years passed away and I did not really think a cat could help but I decided to try.

Way down yonder in the Pawpaw patch
When I was a little girl, my maternal great grandmother used to sing various songs throughout the day. One of the lines she often sang was to the tune of Ten Little Indians and was the chorus from a folk song called The Pawpaw Patch. The chorus was:

Back up off of my resting bitch face
I have an oblong face, thick lips, large teeth, and a long, flat nose. All of this creates an illusion that I am mad when I am not. I was reminded of my "resting bitch face" shortly after my husband died. A woman I went to elementary school with had attended junior and high school with my spouse. She found out about his death weeks later on Facebook. Instead of offering condolences and leaving well enough alone, she posted something that annoyed me.
