Rangers Red is Back!

Greetings, baseball nerds! The Texas Rangers has blessed us with a huge reveal on Thursday. They revealed their new City Connect uniforms and when I first saw the pictures of it, I was in awe. The celebration of Mexican culture is the true definition of Texas. The City Connect series, in case you didn't know, was released by Major League Baseball in 2021. Teams will have different designs representing their respective cities cultures. Seven other teams have also released their new City Connect uniforms on the same day as the Rangers. The Rangers will debut their new uniforms on April 24 during their three-game series at home against the Athletics. The new gear is now available to purchase at the Grand Slam Team Store inside Globe Life Field, which I've visited during my vacation to my beloved hometown back in February and I would recommend that everyone should stop by there. I'll go over some of the details of the jersey that stood out to me.

The story behind the City Connect uniform.

Pictured above is Brandon Nimmo, one of the Rangers offseason acquisitions. The first thing that stood to me about the jersey was the block letters that read Tejas. Does this font look familiar to you? It's from the Rangers uniforms of the 1980s. The red script and white outlines compliment the red hot jersey. Next are the charro-inspired patterns. These add a nice touch to the jersey's sleeves. Finally, one part of the uniform that stood out to me isn't found on the jersey. It's on Nimmo's sock: ¡Viva Tejas! It's a phrase that means Long Live Texas in Spanish. When the Rangers win a game at home, chances are you'll see and hear this rallying cry as a way for us fans to show our Texas pride. We make no apologies for doing so.

This City Connect uniform is 100 times better than their previous one, which was discontinued following the conclusion of the 2025 regular season. The bright red bat Josh Jung is holding is straight up fire. I plan on purchasing some of the new City Connect gear later in the month and do a review on them in a future story, so be sure to keep your eyes on that. The person who took the time to create this amazing new uniform deserves a huge raise. One slight criticism about the uniforms and I've seen a comment on Facebook about them was that they didn't say Arlington across the jersey. The Rangers have been playing in Arlington since 1972 and I agreed with that commenter's assessment. The uniforms paying homage to Mexican culture is wonderful and I'm a Texas boy through and through. However, I would've loved a design on the uniforms to represent something about Arlington to make it more creative. For example, Six Flags Over Texas. I would've loved it if someone created patterns or designs inspired from one of their rides and make it appealing to the uniforms. This is not to take anything away from the creator of the new City Connect uniforms. In my personal opinion, I would've loved to see a uniform and have designs on them that pay tribute to the City of Arlington in general.

The reactions regarding the new uniforms were mixed. I'm glad that red is back, because it's been years since the Rangers had worn red uniforms. This is the sixth consecutive year of the City Connect series and the uniforms will be around for a very long time. Don't forget to mark your calendars for April 24, which the Rangers will debut their new uniforms.

Rangers fans! What were your first impressions about the new City Connect uniforms? Are you planning on buying some of the new gear or have you already bought some? Let me know in the comments below. I'll have a link below to the Rangers City Connect Anthem video. Many of you have seen it already, but in case you missed it, check it out. It's worth the watch. On that note...
