We are living in a world of endless competition,
Between the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean,
Where the ocean’s gold feeds our ambition,
Where fishes swim through veins of petroleum,
And whales circle the wounded ground below.
Living in a competitive world,
Wandering everywhere with open eyes,
Searching for reasons to make others believe,
In a world where those who earn more find their ways.
This is the world of colours,
This is the world of stories,
Where colour is measured by its value,
Where the white one teaches and the black one labours,
Where the white man commands and the black resists,
A script written long before we could speak,
Where white gold is treasured,
And black bullets are reduced to objects.
This is a well-known continent,
A world where no one trusts your colour,
Where belief is fragile,
Where no one wants to believe in another.
A world of instincts,
A world of those who earn more,
A world where discoverers become legends,
And behaviour becomes a disguise.
The world of corruption,
Where people think only of themselves,
Where the powerful consume and live in health,
And the weak survive in silent suffering.
We are living in Africa,
A world of competition,
Still searching for freedom of voice,
Still learning how to speak.
