Fingers crossed
And tarot cards
Flipped by fangs,
Teeth filed into order
Because they couldn't
Get their shit together.
.
The tongue below
Bleeds across metal,
Dripping across damp
Tea leaves
Clumping against
The rim.
.
Wood cracks in the fire,
Spitting embers
Against glass.
There is meaning
In the frost
Crawling along
The mirror's edge.
.
There must be
Meaning in the moth
Overwintering
In the liar's mouth.
It's warm there,
Pressed against the coals
Of their guilt,
Isn't it?
.
I have never known
A liar who runs cold.
So I am trying to taste
The silver lining
In their mouth
And hope their heat
Can at least save
The trembling moth.

🌼The moth was such a strong symbol and anchor that drove the rhythm of this piece. I really liked the slant rhymes you settled on and how the anger was in the back, moving and gliding the way anger does in the dark. 🌼I remember walking near trees in nature once and a single moth attached itself to my clothing. The more I walked, the more it stayed. I love that the anger and disillusionment stayed behind your imagery but kept up with it in each stanza. It is so much more powerful because of that, and because of that I can feel and resonate with this piece.
"Meaning in the moth Overwintering In the liar's mouth." Oooo, these lines were my favourite! Absolutely loved your poem!
This is wonderful!
I Love this poetic piece ❤️
I like the imagery in this, although I wonder what inspired this one.
