No contact for 14 days

I knew in my heart my love had gone astray

We used to talk every night

Now the man I loved had taken flight

Everything we had shared for several years

Was now reduced to heartache and tears

My heart was heavy with grief

I could find no form of peace or relief

Assuming that he had ended it all

I didn't visit his house, nor did I call

In my gut, I knew that my very first lover

Had left me behind and taken another

How would my life go on

He was the only lover I had known

I could not consider intimacy with a different man

My life was not going according to plan

He called one day and asked to come by

He said he didn't want to lose me and began to cry

I forgave him because he was still in my heart

For the next 50 years, we were never apart
