Enforced Awakening

A Poem about Spiritual Interference

By Sarah CampbellPublished about 6 hours ago 1 min read

I knew in the time

Between becoming awake in bed

And walking out the door

Oh

About an hour or so later

That it changed

The heavy feeling in my chest

Carried for half a year now

Fortifying the will and choice to engage

With local world having full access

To the insides workings of my brain

Nowhere to hide, nothing sacred, everything bared and

On display for serious or whimsical judgement

(Your pick)

Is gone now

The moment I’ve anticipated

Clawed myself and universe raw for

Prayed in dismay for

Was surprisingly like any number of morning’s

Moments, barely distinguishable in fact

Testament to the perfect melt that is the earth and ether

Would the bigness be right outside of the door to the outside

Made available by the awareness, if the not the very fact

That

My thoughts are mine alone, once more?

Nothing could or would be the same as before

The energies interfered, turning this human into a

Veritable radio transistor frequency

With involuntary tune in

For the others, I project that

A return to pre-broadcasting days

Is a most welcome rest from

Having their own minds bombarded with messaging

A vibrational palaver deemed most necessary

By the intelligence with the technology to make such impossibilities possible

An unlikely shared reality

A shared moment when the quiet finally returns

Respecting our respective desires and wishes to some

Shred of sovereignty

About the Creator

Sarah Campbell

Creating is a necessary compulsion for humans, and I am a compulsive. Not sharing is not an option. Paradox and irony inherent. Pleased to read you :)
