Core Shattering: A Quiet Evolution
Finding clarity in the gray space between idealism and reality
I recently came across a term: "core shattering."
It isn't an emotional breakdown, but rather a moment where, one day, you suddenly understand everything. You slowly become quiet; you no longer rush to explain yourself, and you feel less inclined to join in superficial excitement.
Many people have gone through this phase—once seeing the world in black and white, passionately believing that effort would be recognized and kindness would be cherished. Later, you discover that the world is actually quite gray, human nature is complex, and sincerity is a rare commodity.
You can choose to forgive, but you don't easily trust again. You can forgive, but you must learn from the experience. It’s not about becoming indifferent; it’s finally learning how to protect yourself.
Slowly, you start speaking less, taking fewer sides, and involving yourself in less drama. You see the exchange behind the smiles and understand the price behind the praise. Eventually, you realize that maturity isn't about enduring everything—it’s about knowing when to let go.
