The Individual

This world is in for one hell of a fight, one that a small group will never contain or defend themselves against. Everywhere I look I see people, living their lives the way they want to, not conforming, following their dreams, going after the truth in a bloated corrupt system that you and I are just numbers in. There is something truly beautiful in the advances we have made, keeping a human alive far past their time, any object or piece of knowledge from any corner of the earth at your fingertips, and of course the military might that can cross the earth in moments to turn cities into ash and rubble.

The individual human is the uncontrollable factor, just a single person, they don’t have to be rich or famous, or important by any means. Someone who can take a step back and examine a situation, think critically and form an opinion while putting up a shield against the outside intrusions and propaganda of those that would have us at each other’s throats. There is power and brotherhood within a group, a collection of like-minded people, until that group grows so large it becomes the face of a coin that flies through the air, flipping over and over again, never to land.

In the same fashion, a group with varying, or even drastically differing opinions, is equally as valuable, and only comes together in times of disaster or atrocity. They become the coin, the obvious moral decision that an entire community can make and agree upon regardless of the cost. Although it has been quite some time since WWII, I find it to be one of the greatest examples of a world united against a great evil. One that could collectively look upon a situation and decide it needed to produce a battleship every four days, while millions went into the meat grinder that was Europe.

We have no great evil now, at least not one like that, they’re all propaganda fueled puppets now, playing a game on a global scale that has gotten quite out of hand. The scale can be hard to wrap one’s head around, the thousands of articles, videos, and speeches, too many to put a dent in. There is one thing we have as a society, not just an American society, but a society that contains ever soul on earth no matter where they call home. We have our free will, our opinions and morals, our souls. You cannot force a change in these things, not through brutal force or something as dangerously simple as a phone screen.

It is the average person that holds the power, because people are just going to act like people. They ignore laws, provide for their family under the crushing powers that would see them struggle and stand in line. There is no control over hard work and accomplishment, no control over sitting with a dying loved one, no control over sitting down with a friend going through a hard time and making it regardless of the situation.

There is no equation to life and how one should live, we are all different and should all be living differently. To be forced by a hand that writes us off as numbers, workers to break our bodies making great machines, men and women to die on those machines in a far off land. The simplest thing one can do is clear their mind and take a step back, really look at the world and do what you want with it. We have the power to take power, to not support something, to use our voices when we need to, and to say fuck the man and do what we want.
