Kid Cudi isn’t waiting for his leading man moment—he’s creating it for himself

The musician and actor wants to write and direct.

It’s always good to boss up in life. If you’re not getting any chances, make your own opportunities. Kid Cudi has done just that. Instead of twiddling his thumbs seeing if Hollywood would give him a hand, he’s brought matters into his own hands.

He anticipates writing and directing a horror- romance titled “When the Light Dies.” He is going the Oscar Michaux route, the Ryan Coogler way. Do your own thing and create for yourself. The hustle he’s putting into not only this project but future films is admirable to say the least.

He’s poised to become a writer-director-actor. His abilities to wear various hats will be put to the test as he readies to release his first feature. This is a platinum and diamond opportunity for him to flex his creative muscles with a movie crafted by himself. If he finds a way to cut through the criticism, he’ll be on his way to filmic superstardom.

His previous credits include How to Make it in America and Happy Gilmore 2. These, however, consisted of acting roles. With his plans to become a player-coach in Hollywood, he is set to take on the role of one of the few black directors who have crafted a world for themselves and others. In the way that he has championed the music industry, he expects to bring that same energy and focus to the screen, behind it and in front of it as well.

This is a good sign. The power behind a do for self agenda is a force that rekindles and ignites the entrepreneurial spirit. It carries over the notion of not waiting around and moping about how nobody ever gave you a chance.

You make your own opportunity. Gather the materials, make a plan, and do the damn thing. That’s the way you have to deal with the situation of not getting picked for the film team. Make your own team, hell, make your own league. Just do it! as a famous advertising campaign for a popular sneaker and apparel company has said.

That’s the might initiative gives you. Kid Cudi has seemed to figure that out already. He’s been positioned to grab the reins and steer his movie making career on his own terms.

Cudi has the strength of character to guide his dreams into reality. If he can champion a musical career, what’s to stop him from directing his own movies? He seems to know the aspects of the entertainment business as an actor. If he can do that, what’s stopping him from charging forward with the steam to fulfill his fantasies?

What Kid Cudi understands about the way producers and distributors move is that they know about the industry inside and out, of course. Cudi can cut through the hype and associate his talents to screens large and small.

The best way that Kid Cudi can cut through the silly nonsense of the industry is to continue down his path to greater heights of success. Instead of music, he will be afforded the keys to his place at the director’s chair. All he has to do is make sure he gets the rights to his work, first dollar and after twenty-five years gain full control of his films like Ryan Coogler.

If he is able to adjust to his environment, he’ll be able to overcome any obstacles that might be in his path. The road to entertainment glory on the movie side is laid open to him if he just knows how to work the mechanisms of the business. He will inspire even more people to follow their own paths all because Kid Cudi set the example.
