Celebrating 20 Years of Hannah Montana

She still has the Best of Both Worlds

By Mark Wesley Pritchard Published 11 days ago Updated 11 days ago 3 min read

Disney Channel had some of the best shows and movies that aired in 2006. However, there was show that would leave a lasting impact for Disney for decades to come. That show was called Hannah Montana. The titular character starred now Grammy award-winning artist and Disney Legend Miley Cyrus. Cyrus received the latter honor in 2024 for her contributions to the company. The streaming platform, Disney+, will air a 20th anniversary special on March 24, exactly two decades to the day the original series premiered. Hannah Montana aired from 2006 to 2011, lasting four seasons and 98 episodes. Miley Cyrus portrayed Miley Stewart, a teenager who had to keep her pop star identity a secret from the public. Only her close family and friends knew her secret identity. In this story, I'll be highlighting some of my favorite Hannah Montana songs. There are four words that describe her songs: inspirational, powerful, emotional, and empowering. In a later story, I'll highlight some of my favorite Hannah Montana episodes. In the meantime, once you've read this story, let me know in the comments section below what are some of your favorite songs from the tv series. Also, what is your favorite Hannah Montana album. Be sure to subscribe to my page on here, follow me on social media, and leave me a generous one-off tip at the end of this story. The following list of songs are not in any particular order.

Make Some Noise

Growing up, I didn't have a lot of friends, due to me being severely bullied. Plus, being on the autism spectrum made communicating with my peers more difficult. Feeling like an outcast is unfortunate, but this song is so relatable to me, especially the lyrics. The whole message of this song is to not be afraid to stand out and embrace your true self.

I'll Always Remember You

In the one-hour series finale of Hannah Montana Forever, Miley goes through her closet as this song plays, admiring her Hannah outfits as flashbacks of her alter ego appeared from past episodes. It's about reflecting on memories and putting an end to a chapter. This song will make you tear up and there's another song that will have you in tears, which I'll talk about right now.

Wherever I Go

Just like I'll Always Remember You, this song is a heartfelt farewell to the show. In the second to last scene, Hannah was invited to Jay Leno's talk show. All of a sudden, Hannah did something that shocked everyone: she took off her wig and revealed her secret to the world as Miley Stewart. She sung this song and afterwards, she received a standing ovation from the audience. That took a lot of courage for Miley to reveal her true self to everyone.

Life Is What You Make It

This upbeat and positive song from season two was about not worrying about the everyday stresses of life and enjoy every minute of it. Want to let go of all your worries and cares? Life Is What You Make It will make you see the positives in life.

Just Like You

I retired from cosplay after 10 years of doing it in 2024. This song tells us that no matter how popular or well-known you are, at the end of the day, we're just regular people. Many celebrities and other public figures try to portray a persona online that they have this lavish life, when in reality, it's all a facade. They put up this front for everyone that they have it made, but in reality, is a lie. I like people who are open and honest about their lives. Going back to this song, I loved doing cosplay, but I had to remind everyone that I was a regular guy underneath those costumes.

Nobody's Perfect

The final song on this list is relatable to everyone. The meaning behind the song Nobody's Perfect is about learning to embrace our imperfections and flaws. However, we have the ability to pick ourselves back up and try again. A perfect life doesn't exist and if you attempt to be perfect in everything, it'll only lead you to become miserable. Being imperfect is part of being human, but when things get difficult, we persevere and try again with whatever we're doing.

I personally like the first two Hannah Montana albums, because it's hard to choose one that I like the most. This show was and will always be a pop culture phenomenon for years and decades to come. We know most or all of these songs by heart and we thank Miley Cyrus for portraying such an iconic character and entertaining us. No matter how old you are or who you are, this show will always be loved by millions.
