Mysteries of the Cult of the Scale

Reptilian Patrons for the Shadowdark RPG

By Samuel WrightPublished 10 days ago 5 min read

The squamous form of the cobra-headed viperian swayed and undulated in the haze of burning incense and throbbing reverberations of alien music. The air seemed to shimmer and throb with anticipation. Then out of the smoke appeared the image of a many-headed serpentine figure, King Typhonus, the Viperian Overlord...

The Cult of the Scales reveres many ancient and powerful reptilian creatures, from dinosaurs to dragon and basilisks. Some members of the cult become warlocks and appeal to these powerful entities to be patrons from whom they may gain boons. Presented here are some of the most renown...

King Typhonus, Viperian Lord, The Great Serpent...

"That destructive monster of a hundred heads, impetuous Typhon. He withstood all the gods, hissing out terror with horrid jaws, while from his eyes lightened a hideous glare."

The multi-headed king of the Viperians, a terrible gigantic, dragon-winged ophid of great power and ancient wisdom draped in jewels and armed with a terrible sword. He is worshiped by many viperians and guides whole nations through dark conspiracies. Viperian warlocks often appeal to him as their patron.
