The Fears of AI And How Much Fun It Can Be

Everybody has a different opinion on AI, but as it advances, it can make for some fun when it comes to our social media use, or just our imaginations.

ChatGPT has come a long way, as has AI in general. There are those people who are scared of it, and for understandable reasons. People fear that as technologies advance, they’ll be replaced in the workforce. Then, there are the fears that AI could evolve into something that brings us to the brink of extinction.

Sure, AI could someday evolve into something that we no longer control. Who hasn’t, particularly when some of these advancements first came on the scene, considered the Cameron effect of advanced technologies. The movie about the future of technology, and advancements in artificial intelligence, became a classic for a reason. Was it a cautionary tale? I is it what’s to come.

In the meantime, AI is supplementing the human experience. The future is going to happen, and it can be ours or the eventual robots that will be “living” among us. Even first lady, Melania Trump, is embracing the future.

From a humanoid robot at the Whitehouse, to the famous Sophia, AI is growing at an expenential rate. People can even choose to have an AI companion, if they’re fortunate enough to be able to shell out the money. And that is one of the scariest things, AI robots as companions. The next thing we see will be AI robots replacing humans in human relationships.

But, AI can be fun, if you aren’t taking it too seriously.

Having A Little Fun With AI

With AI, you can now stretch your imagination to new and undreamt of heights. For most people, the world is out of our reach. But, with AI, we can see the world and our part in it as differently as we want.

Have you ever dreamt of being in Antarctica? How about being in a horror movie, or being a professional wrestler? Maybe you’ve dreamt of being the guy sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office. I’d bet many of us, particularly lately, have thought to ourselves how we couldn’t do as bad as the ones who end up there.

Who's not a fan of horror? It's an easy bet that you have a favorite horror character, and if you're in your forties to sixties, it might be the one chasing me in the image above. Nobody will ever replace the incomparable Robert England. But, with AI, I get to see what I'd have realistically done if a burned up madman with razor fingers were chasing after me. That's right! Run!

I’ve spent the past four months laid off and struggling financially. It lead me to look at many different jobs and opportunities. Sure, with Cancer at my level, it’s a bit restricted what I can and can’t do, but with AI, I can see what I might go through doing security work for a company in the center of Antarctica.

On the fun side, at least I know how cool I'd look patroling the perimeter at one of the many stations in the Antarctic. Burrrrrrrrr!

From the robots at the Whitehouse, to our favorite gold colored droid, robots have been in front of us for a long time. Starting with the robot in Lost in Space, the idea of having one has always been a child's dream, much like having the powers of a JEDI. Or, maybe that was the dream of the high school sci-fi geeks. Either way, through AI, I can see what it would be like to have the high level JEDI powers and fight off an evil Sith, as my fellow space explorers look on.

Honestly, I'd be a conservative, but I know how to talk to people and wouldn't be nearly as hard to take as the last few in the Oval. Or, would I go dark side iwth those JEDI powers? Imagine how much we could get done if it were just the governors of the different states and a president.

From the questions we can get answers to, to having AI examine work as a writer, to the ability to have it create things like ebooks, as well as artworks, it all comes down to prompt engineering. Prompt engineering is the skill of wording the commands to an AI system and getting as close to what you want as possible.

The more people develop this skill, the more they’ll catch up with the technology and be able to perform in this ever evolving world of ours. AI is going to be a huge part of that world, and while it could replace people, it could also depend on the humans that know how to make it operate and keep it functioning.

Thanks for reading. Every little bit helps as I fight cancer and look for new employment that I’m able to do.

I was wondering when I subscribed to 'The Man Behind the Mask'. Didn't know it was you, Mr. Morton. Great article! I know AI is here to stay. It's going to be interesting to see how it evolves.
