You can't escape if you can't fly.

It was an understatement to describe the fear that Jeremy was feeling. He had felt so superior much earlier that week, receiving the task of killing two people that were a threat to his boss. When his leader would ever dole on him for any reason, he got so happy from the attention, and never hesitated to please his boss, no matter what was asked of him.

So when he was asked to dispose of a couple, he thought it would be easy.

The one thing he never saw coming was the boyfriend attacking him with his own set of powers. He had no idea about this predicament, hell, the team or the boss didn't know either. He was caught off guard so bad, because he had gone in cocky; he wanted to see their faces when they were killed. The boyfriend then charged at him, kicking his ass.

What was more embarrassing, was that he ended up tripping over his cape during the fight, and the boyfriend landed so many blows upon his body, that he was left literally paralyzed. It took forever for his wounds to regenerate, and he stupidly watched as the couple took off running. Well, the boyfriend had scooped up his girlfriend, and had vanished in the blink of an eye. Bastard was actually super fast, a power that Jeremy used to mock constantly for those who possessed it.

Now he felt dumb as a box of rocks. It turns out that having the ability to run really fast can apply to fighting as well, and Jeremy struggled to dodge any of the punches. He had cursed himself and tried not to cry, feeling his face turn red at the thought of knowing that he had tripped on his cape. His teammates always let him know that wearing a cape can cause a lot of problems, and he should have taken their warnings seriously.

He thought wearing a cape was cool, but like his boss said, wearing a cape was only cool for those who could fly.

He felt his face turn red as he made his way to the office of his boss, as two of his teammates led him there. The Gentleman, no one knew his real name, and Griffin, were the only ones who were actually kind of nice. They were dicks to everyone among their team, including their own boss, but the reason why they weren't kicked out, is because their powers were enough to back them up.

Jeremy secretly hated both of them for years, because he couldn't stand that they were deserving of the superhero title. His anger and lashing out against anyone who questioned his powers was an insecurity of his, and he hated that he would never be like these two men.

The door to the office burst open, and Jeremy was surprised to see that his boss wasn't waiting for him in the office. Griffin and the Gentleman led him inside, shutting the door behind him. The two men led him to the large window, that was directly behind the desk of his boss.

"Guys, what the hell is going on -''

Jeremy was shoved against the window, and the force was so great, that he had smashed through the window. Jeremy screamed, falling all the way to his death, as he reached up toward the two superheroes that he hated, confusion and hatred shooting through his body.

Then his emotions changed to fear, when he realized that he was going to die. His last thoughts before he hit the ground, was realizing that wearing a cape was so stupid, and he wished he could have killed at least one more person before his end. Because the one thing that Jeremy knew of himself, was that he was a piece of shit that enjoyed hurting others.

His screams were cut off once he hit the ground.

Griffin let out a whistle when he saw the blood splatter below.

"Shit, that kid was useful for something after all."

"Are you trying to make a joke about his death? Because wherever you're going with this, I'm not going to find it funny," The Gentleman replied.

"You let out a small snorting sound when we killed the boss a couple of hours ago."

"That's because I wasn't expecting the bastard to pop like a balloon. And his actions were much more evil compared to that fucking kid."

Griffin rolled his eyes. "Whatever. I don't give a shit what you think is funny or not. Your humor is fucked compared to me, so I thought you would find my joke hilarious, but there's no point telling it now, is there?"

"No. No, there isn't."

Griffin sighed, and checked his watch. "We should get the fuck out of here. That couple is waiting for us downstairs. God, I'm glad they're alright. The girl is pregnant, you know."

"I heard. Her husband is a good man."

"Boyfriend. They are not married."

The Gentleman smiled. "Shame they aren't married yet. That man is a fierce protector. The beating that he gave to that kid…now that was amusing."

"See? I told you that your humor was fucked."

"Fuck you."

Griffin and the Gentleman got into a small argument, as they walked toward the elevator of the building. If Jeremy had seen the closet in the office, he would have noticed the puddle of blood underneath the door. The two men had stuffed their teammates inside of that closet, and it wasn't easy. They go into the elevator, where a large amount of blood splatter is waiting for them.

They didn't bother taking Jeremy into the elevator, because they wanted to kill him a little differently compared to the others. He never stopped going on about his cape, even though the entire team insisted he looked stupid wearing an item that didn't coincide with his powers.

Griffin and the Gentleman thought it would be ironic to throw him out the window, since he couldn't fly.

Neither of them didn't laugh at this when they thought up his death, but it was satisfying to watch him die.

He was the superhero who wore a cape, even though he couldn't fly.

The men would eventually find his death funny like the others they killed, but for now, they would hold off on the jokes.

For now.
