The Lesson of the Two Frogs in the Pit

One day, two frogs were hopping through a field, lost in conversation. Because they weren't paying attention to where they were going, they suddenly tumbled into a deep, dark pit. The hole was so deep that getting back out seemed impossible.

A crowd of other frogs soon gathered around the edge. Instead of trying to help, they started shouting down at the two friends. "No one has ever made it out of this pit alive!" one cried. Another yelled, "It’s no use! You’re just going to die down there."

Hearing these words, one of the frogs became completely discouraged. He lost hope, stopped trying, and eventually gave up.

But the other frog refused to quit. He kept jumping with everything he had. The more the frogs at the top shouted about how impossible it was, the harder he pushed himself. Finally, to everyone’s utter disbelief, he made one massive leap and cleared the edge of the pit.

The other frogs crowded around him, stunned. "How did you do it?" they asked.

The frog smiled and explained that he was hard of hearing. "I couldn't hear what you were saying," he told them. "When I saw you all shouting and waving, I thought you were cheering me on. That’s what gave me the strength to keep jumping until I finally made it out."

The Moral of the Story In life, people will often say things to discourage you or make you feel like you aren't good enough. You have to learn to tune out the negativity and keep moving forward. At the same time, we should always try to be the ones who encourage others, helping them find the strength to reach their goals.
