“Room 27”
The rain poured relentlessly over Chambéry that evening. The streetlights flickered, as if they too were afraid.
Gihan should never have taken that job.
It had all started with a simple advert: “Night caretaker wanted for historic hotel. Well paid. No experience required.”
Too easy. Too strange. But she needed the money… and something inside her was curious.
The Hotel des Brumes stood on the edge of town. Old, elegant… and unsettling. The walls seemed to hold secrets.
The owner, a pale man with cold eyes, gave her just one rule:
— “Never enter Room 27.”
Gihan smiled.
— “Of course…”
But she already knew she wouldn’t be able to resist.
---
The First Night
Everything was silent. Too silent.
At 2:17 a.m., the reception phone rang.
— “Reception?” Gihan answered, her voice uncertain.
Silence.
Then… a whisper:
— “Help me…”
The line went dead.
The call had come from Room 27.
Her heart began to race. She tried to ignore it.
Never enter Room 27.
But then… she heard footsteps. In the corridor.
Slow. Heavy.
Gihan stepped out of reception. The corridor was empty… but the door to Room 27 was slightly open.
---
The Encounter
Inside the room, everything was dark. The air was cold.
— “Is anyone there?”
A figure appeared in the shadows.
A young man.
His eyes were deep, filled with pain… yet there was something incredibly gentle about him.
— “You shouldn’t have come in…” he said.
— “Were you the one who called me?”
— “Yes… but now you’re in danger.”
His name was Eliot.
Eliot was… dead.
---
The Mystery
Night after night, Gihan returned to Room 27.
Eliot told her the truth.
Years before, he had been a guest at the hotel.
He had disappeared. No one had ever found his body.
— “I can’t leave… someone murdered me. And until the truth is revealed… I’m trapped here.”
Gihan felt fear.
But also something stronger.
She trusted him.
And slowly… she began to fall in love.
---
The Hidden Truth
While searching through old records and documents, Gihan uncovered something terrible.
The hotel owner.
He was the killer.
He murdered solitary guests… to rob them.
Eliot had been one of them.
That night, Gihan confronted the man.
— “I know everything.”
He smiled. A cold, chilling smile.
— “Then I shouldn’t have hired you.”
The lights went out.
Footsteps drew closer.
But something changed.
The wind burst into the room. Doors slammed.
Eliot appeared.
He was no longer weak.
— “It’s over.”
Shadows wrapped around the man.
His screams echoed… then silence.
---
Goodbye
The next morning, the police found the owner’s body… and, hidden in the basement, Eliot’s.
At last, the truth had come to light.
Gihan returned to Room 27 one final time.
Eliot was there. But different. Lighter.
— “I’m free, thanks to you.”
Tears streamed down her face.
— “What happens now?”
He smiled.
— “Now I have to go.”
— “And us?”
Eliot stepped closer. He brushed her cheek, like a touch made of air.
— “Love doesn’t disappear… it changes form.”
And then he was gone.
---
Epilogue
The hotel closed.
But Gihan never forgot.
Sometimes, when the rain falls and silence fills the night…
she still hears a voice.
A whisper.
— “Thank you…”
And in that moment… she smiles.
Because she knows that even in darkness and mystery… love always finds a way to remain.
Some stories are not meant to be told, yet they find their way into the world, carrying whispers of fear, longing, and a love that refuses to fade.
