TV Night in the Safe House
Jack drew back and became lost in his thoughts as he stared blankly at the TV screen.
In the background, Jack's parents yell out βtrash,β βdishwasher.β

Supervisory Special Agent Gordon
- September 9, 1982, Jack received an envelope with the photos and a blackmail note.
- Mitchell Gannon went missing on Wednesday, September 15, 1982.
Agent Gordon decidedly made the call, βCole you're on AM detail, Forbes you're PM.β

The Gardener
Back at the safe house Jack and Sheryl were in the kitchen preparing lunch for the family.
βJack, can you get the mayonnaise for me.β
βAlrighty Jack, whatever your heart desires.β
Jack took a look out the window, βSomeone is cutting the front lawn.β
Emily scoffed and said, βWhat a dumb name for a yard service company.β
βMaybe not so dumb Emily,β Sheryl responded, βIf you're an FBI agent.β
Sheryl responded, βMozart's Requiem in D Minor operates on a higher plane than any other.β
With that conversation, Sheryl opened the door and welcomed the young man into the house.
βPlease have a seat, Agent Lomeli,β Sheryl directed him toward the sofa where Jack was sitting.
βYes, that is true. Mitchell wasn't there. His apartment was cordoned off.β
βYou said the driver was a βhe,β did you see the driver?β
βSo, you're not sure who was driving?β
βI am not sure,β Jack answered.
βWhat time did you arrive at Mitchell's apartment on that day?β
βI arrived there around 11 am.β
βIt was shortly after 11:30 am.β
βWhat time did you make it to the firehouse?β
βIt was a few minutes after noon.β
βThank you, Jack, that's all for today. You've been a big help.β

Life will find a way
One cocoon twitches; my screaming must have disturbed it. Itβs followed by a sound like the shaking of a cobraβs tail. A dry rattle sends a shiver down my spine. The rest of the cocoons respond the same way, as if communicating with one another; the cave fills with rattling. The glow becomes stronger as they vibrate and bathes the cave floor in an eerie blue light.

The beginning of the story got me confused until I learned he was just dreaming. Nicely done with this series
Tiffany never mentioned this undercover job. So much happening, hard to keep up. Twists and turns and mysteries to untangle. Sure hope it all gets sorted out. Written like a pro Rick. Nicely done.

I would love to help find Xochital and Jack's beloved Angelita. Nicely written chapter! I really enjoyed the music dialogue/secret code section of the story. It was a very nice touch! Great work Cousin! I'm excited to read the next piece of the puzzle! No pressure intended but how soon before we receive the next installment? Lol π
I like the main character's attitude toward solving the mystery of missing persons. This is the first story I have read of yours, so I believe I will return and read the others.
