Thrift Store Book Finds

I love going to our local thrift store.

It's my daughter's favourite place to go. I always find something I didn't know that I needed whenever I go.

Today, I found four books that I wanted to share with you all.

The first one, Every Day by David Levithan.

I read this one back when it was first published and I kind of forgot about it until now. I was so surprised to see it on the shelf and I cannot wait to read it again.

The second one, Wake by Amanda Hocking.

I actually own this on Kindle, but when I noticed the hardcover copy I had to buy it. I love love love Amanda Hocking's work, and am currently reading the third series of her troll books, The Omte series. It's different than the first two trilogies and I was so disappointed in this one. I am actually struggling to get through them. I'm hoping the pace picks up in the second book. Anyways, here is the synopsis for "Wake".

Next up, is "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold.

I loved this movie. I vaguely remember owning a copy of this book when I was a lot younger but I don't know if I ever finished it. I want to give it another go, especially because of how many times I watched that movie when I was a twelve year old. I cried so many times.

"My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973."

So begins the story of Susie Salmon, who is adjusting to her new home in heaven, a place that is not at all what she expected, even as she is watching life on earth continue without her -- her friends trading rumors about her disappearance, her killer trying to cover his tracks, her grief-stricken family unraveling. Out of unspeakable tragedy and loss, The Lovely Bones succeeds, miraculously, in building a tale filled with hope, humor, suspense, even joy.

And last but not least, "Along for The Ride" by Sarah Dessen.

I loved Sarah Dessen when I was in high school. I was more of a fantasy reader than a romance but something about the way she captures her characters made me fall in love. I never read this one before but the back captured my attention and I wanted to read it. Here is the description:

I find the Sarah Dessen novel to be extremely fitting for the mood I am in lately because I cannot for the life of me sleep normal hours right now. All in all, it was a good haul. I'm quite proud of my purchases actually and was so excited to share them with you. I only spent $10.00 too which made my day. I love a good bargain.
